Committees

There are many committees that carry out the work of Church of the Covenant.  One of the best ways to get involved in Covenant is to become a member of one of the committees. 
Council 
  • Council has jurisdiction over the religious, spiritual, educational, community, benevolent and social witness of the Church. It has jurisdiction over the financial, business and temporal affairs of the Church.  The pastor functions as the moderator of Council.  See Covenant Council for more information.

Board of Deacons
  • Maintain a particularly watchful eye for places in the church where extra love and attention may be needed. Work to nourish and nurture the love, fellowship and hospitality of who we are.

Building Committee
  • Oversee maintenance and long-term use of the building. With council approval, plan and supervise capital improvements

Christian Education Committee - Adults
  • Responsible for the creation and implementation of the weekly education program for adults

Christian Education Committee - Children
  • Responsible for the on-going education and nurture of the children and young people of the church

Communications Committee
  • Provide guidance for COTC email communications. Maintains website

Finance Committee
  • Responsible for connecting the financial resources of the church to the Christian mission of our community of faith

Joint Investment Committee
  • Oversees the Investment portfolios of COTC and the Central Congregational Society

Membership Development Committee
  • Making the church an inviting and welcoming place for newcomers, provide a nurturing community for members and regular friends

Memorials Committee
  • Receives memorial gifts, accepts gifts for the Sunday morning chancel flowers

Mission and Advocacy Committee
  • Works to educate, engage and empower the congregation in the area of mission. Our goal is to help all of us to learn, to get involved and to be effective in our mission efforts

Nominating Committee
  • Nominates potential members of Council, Deacons, Nominating Committee and Personnel Committee    

Pastor-Parish Relations Committee
  • Focus group and sounding board for pastor. Reflection on current church life and possible new ideas is within the committee’s mandate

Personnel Committee
  • Responsibilities are the facilitation of Completing the Circle groups, periodic review of job descriptions and maintaining the Personnel Policies and Procedures

Stewardship   Committee
  • Prepares annual stewardship communication to congregation and coordinates pledge administration

Worship and Music Committee
  • Responsible for the overall worship and music life of COTC
