WINTER WALK Worship in the Streets

Join us on this 40-day spiritual journey as we follow Jesus into the innovative, sacred space of encounter. This Lent, we intend to get “out there” – beyond the traditional “walls” of the church; out from under the overly-digital-frenetic-fight-or-flight daily grind of these days; past the familiar forms of worship – in the hopes of finding God in others.

The earliest followers of Jesus were called the “Called Out Ones” (Ecclesia in Greek). We intend to spend this season living into that ancient identity in a new way by seeking out others in the spiritual practice of equal eXchange. Dialogue. Interaction. Encounter.

Following the inner call of God, we will call ourselves out there, we will put ourselves out there, we will stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zones to engage with the “other.” Our nation is in a dangerous place of disconnected hate right now. Screens and fear further isolate us from each other. Through encountering new people, new music, new art, new ideas, new scripture, new texts – we hope to encounter Jesus anew. Each Sunday we will locate our worship around an “eX” (out of) term to guide our journey in innovative ways.

Between Sundays each week we will be invited to find time to intentionally unplug from the isolated digital world around us and plug into community, relationships, and slower forms of communication. Friends, this Lent, let’s call each other Out There, together. For such a time as this.

Join us in-person or online via Zoom Sunday mornings, on Ash Wednesday, and for Holy Week.
