Prayers for Boston: In the light of the Marathon bombings and the ongoing gun violence that continues to plague our city, we join our voices in mourning, solidarity and prayer. In addition to our shocked silence, we fall back on these old prayers that so many traditions know:
Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this day, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, O Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for love's sake. Amen.
Guide us waking, O Lord, and guard us sleeping; that awake we may watch with Christ, and asleep we may rest in peace.
Boston Bombings and Our Response: Our hearts and prayers continue to go out to our beloved city of Boston, in the light of the bombings at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, and the ongoing tragic injustice of gun violence that continues to plague our city.
